Could Your Trees Be a Lawsuit Waiting?

It’s amazing how something as simple as a tree can stir up so much drama.
We’ve seen it first hand.

One customer called us because their bushes had grown so wide that branches were hanging into the neighbour’s yard. Not only was it blocking light, but snakes had started nesting in the dense shrubbery.

The neighbour wasn’t too happy about that.

Another job we attended, branches snapped in a storm and damaged cars parked on the street.

No one wants to wake up to that kind of bill or the awkward chat with the neighbour whose bumper got smashed.

And then there was the big one.
tree that had grown into power lines.
A serious safety issue for the whole street.
It only takes one spark for something dangerous to happen.

And here’s another one we often see.
If you’re not on good terms with your neighbour, an overgrown tree can push on fences and make things worse.
By law, you can only trim branches back to your side of the property.
You can’t go into their yard or cut more than what hangs over.
That’s when disputes really start.

These are real stories, and they highlight why trimming isn’t just about looks.
It’s about responsibility.
It’s about safety.

And yes, it’s about keeping the peace with your neighbours.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Stay ahead with regular trimming—don’t wait until branches become a problem.

  • Keep facades clean and cared for so your property looks welcoming, not neglected.

  • Always think about safety. Kids, cars, power lines—it’s better to prevent than repair.

  • Have a friendly chat with neighbours before small issues turn into big arguments.

Your property is a reflection of you.
And when it’s cared for, it shows respect—for your space, your family, and your community.

In the end, a well-kept tree doesn’t just make your property look good.
It keeps everyone around you safe and happy too.
