Once you have had a look around our Men Behaving Handy website, you will see our ‘book now’ button in the top right corner of our page. If you are wanting to book your job, you will need to click this button which will then promptly direct you to a section where you will need to take two minutes and fill out some important information about your job along with some personal details. This is a highly important part of the process, so please don’t miss out on any details or skip past this crucial step.

You will be asked to provide us with the address where the job is, but don’t worry, this is kept strictly confidential and your address will never be shared outside of Men Behaving Handy. Your safety matters to us, so you never have to worry about your address becoming public knowledge or being shared with the public. It is important that you give us your real address and any other details we will need to get there.

If your address is hard to find or you live within an apartment block, we will require these details so that neither parties time is wasted, and we can help you out as soon as possible with your job needing to be done. Make sure that the details of the job you provide us with are thorough. This way we can provide you with an estimate, though the estimate we give you will be more exact if we have all of the details. It is also ideal to note that an estimate isn’t a final cost, if other damages or complications arise you will be charged.

Photos are also great. The more photos you can provide, the better, so we know exactly what you need to be done. Please also remember that when we ask for your name, we will require your first and last name.

Minimum charges

Our time is important, so just remember that if you have a small job, you will be required to pay a minimum charge. Sometimes a job may be too small to actually make up for the time spent on the job and the materials used, this is where our minimum charge comes in to make sure that we are still able to cover all of our costs being output to ensure a seamless process.

We will not come out to your property to quote for a picture frame to be hung, this is why minimum charges apply because it would simply be a waste of our time and yours.

Chargeable travel time

Here at Men Behaving Handy, we service many, many areas, so of course, travel is a big thing for us. Travelling means that our fuel usage can sometimes be quite excessive which is why we also charge for travel. Depending on travel time, you may see an extra half hour or hour added to your quote for the travel.

This is all discussed beforehand, so you won’t be hit with unexpected costs, but our time is valuable within work hours which is why minimum charges and travel charges will apply to you. If we have to travel to you, be prepared to be charged a travel cost.

Materials

The answer is yes, we can pick up materials for you, but charges will apply. We love to help our customers out by being able to pick up and drop off materials to you, but if we did this for free, we would be running at a significant loss which would soon prove detrimental to our business here at Men Behaving Handy. Whether we are picking up materials for your job or materials for you specifically, charges will apply to ensure that our time is valued and paid for.

When your materials are picked up, two or more people will need to go, we will never send a tradie alone to a job. This is another reason that charges will apply for picking up materials. Another thing to note is that depending on the situation, it is possible to work with your materials if the customer can make all of the arrangements.

Just make sure you contact us about this, and we can work something out to benefit both Men Behaving Handy and you.

Our time is valuable

It has been said before, but just to clarify, our time is very important, and we definitely understand that yours is too. To put it into perspective, if you have an appointment that is important to you, you would understandably become annoyed if people are late, so it is easy to understand why we may feel the same if you aren’t able to meet us at the time we have previously agreed on. If we have to wait for you passed the time we have agreed upon, you will be charged a fee for our time.

When we spend time waiting for you, we miss out on time at other jobs which means that we lose money which can be bad for a business. This is why you will be charged a fee if you are late or unable to meet us at the time that has been previously agreed upon. The client shall also provide exclusive site access to Men Behaving Handy so that we can effectively and efficiently complete our services. Any costs for parking at the site, or losses or expenses incurred by Men Behaving Handy due to interrupted site access will be charged to the client directly.

Payments

Our tradesmen do not take cash after a job has been completed, but don’t worry! There are several other far easier ways to pay that don’t involve cash. You may be wondering how to pay if the tradesmen do not take cash, so let’s talk about it! All of the work done by Men Behaving Handy is invoiced directly to you when your job is done.

This means that you will receive an email from us with a detailed invoice stating all the work that has been completed and how you can pay it. This can be done in two ways which are:

• Direct debit: All of the details you need for direct debit payments will be on the invoice you receive after your work has been done, direct debit is essentially an online wire transfer between two bank accounts.
• Credit card: Please be advised, paying with a credit card is absolutely fine, but you will be charged a 3% surcharge for using a card.

Payments are required within 7 days of your invoice being sent to you. If your invoice becomes overdue after the 7-day period is up, you will be required to deposit the funds effective immediately. If you fail to make your payment, we will then proceed to take the matter further. Please make sure that when your payment is due you have the funds available to pay for the completed services because Men Behaving Handy will take no responsibility for your lack of funds and it will not be excused.

Before action is taken, several warnings will be given, however, after the warnings have been issued and no payment has been made, you will have to deal with the following problems. The Client will, at the discretion of Men Behaving Handy incur, additional charges when the services are required in an emergency and urgent situations. An emergency is a situation that needs to be attended to within a 2-hour time frame of a request for services. An urgent situation is one that needs to be attended to within a 12-hour period.

In the event, that the agreed progress payments are not honoured by the Client, Men Behaving Handy reserves the right to halt work until such time the outstanding payment is forthcoming. The Client must pay the damages to Men Behaving Handy if any costs, expenses or losses occur as a result of the Client’s failure to pay to Men Behaving Handy all sums outstanding as owed by the Client including without limiting the generality of the foregoing any debt collection and legal costs incurred in enforcing payment on a solicitor and own client basis.

Men Behaving Handy reserve the right to charge cost plus on equipment, hire of equipment, specialised skills, materials, fuel to complete the estimate provided to the Client. Men Behaving Handy also reserves the right to make null and void the warranty should any materials be reinstalled elsewhere, modified, altered, damaged or put to any undue stress other than in the way the Materials were designed to perform.

Estimates

All prices in the estimate given to you for the services are valid for a period of 30 days from the date of the estimate on the providing the materials required for the estimate remain at the purchase price given to Men Behaving Handy to prepare the estimate. Men Behaving Handy may, at its sole discretion, review the estimate if it is accepted within 30 days from the date of the estimate, only on this condition.

Services covered by the estimate are limited to those expressly detailed in the “Scope of Work” to be undertaken in the estimate. Men Behaving Handy is entitled to vary the estimate if it is accepted after 30 days of the date of to take into account:

• Any associated services required to successfully complete the works not expressly stated in the Scope of Work to be undertaken in the estimate.
• Any additional services requested or required by the Client after the commencement of the estimate which were not part of the original estimate.
• Any increase in the cost of the materials required.
• Any price variation from a third party engaged to complete the works.

Men Behaving Handy does not provide a guarantee on any materials associated with the estimate, the guarantee is on labour only. When the Client is informed that the materials supplied by the Client are not of sufficient quality and the Client wishes to go ahead with work using those materials, the guarantee of labour is then void. Men Behaving Handy reserves the right to require the payment of a 60% deposit prior to commencing the Estimate and may also require progress payments to be made upon partial completion of work, as outlined in the Estimate.

When the client is informed that the materials, they have supplied to Men Behaving Handy are not of sufficient quality and they still wish to go ahead with the work using those materials, the guarantee of labour is then void. Men Behaving Handy reserves the right to require the payment of a 60% deposit prior to commencing the estimate and may also require progress payments to be made upon partial completion of work, as outlined in the estimate. Men Behaving Handy will endeavour to schedule for commencement and completion as soon as possible after acceptance of the estimate.

However, please keep in mind that this may be dependent on the availability of the needed materials, Public Holidays and weather conditions. To the extent permitted by law, the liability of Men Behaving Handy in contract, tort or otherwise which may arise directly or indirectly in respect of the supply of services or any act, failure or omission of Men Behaving Handy pursuant to the estimate is limited only to the amount payable by the Client under this estimate. We will exercise all reasonable care, skill and diligence in undertaking the work will ensure the works are of sufficient quality and will undertake the work within a reasonable time of the Client’s acceptance of the Estimate.

The Client only has a right to a remedy from Men Behaving Handy in relation to the estimate when the work is undertaken by Men Behaving Handy does not meet the consumer guarantees described in the Australian Consumer Law with respect to the supply of services.

Cancellation of any accepted estimate may incur a fee to cover any costs actually incurred by Men Behaving Handy in commencing the work including the purchase of any materials.

All Materials utilised for any work remains the property of Men Behaving Handy until the Client has made full payment of the account for the completed Estimate.

GST

Here at Men Behaving Handy, we are GST registered. This means that Once the work is completed to your satisfaction, you will receive an itemised invoice. Because of the fact that we are GST registered, this means that invoices can be used as a tax deduction.
